An introverted boy who got awkward in public started making videos on YouTube! He says that when he was on camera, it felt like his alter ego used to get activated. The boy kept creating content with that alter ego as the driving force. The rest is history. The boy we are talking about is none other than Ajey Nagar, aka CarryMinati.

Ajey Nagar with his channel named ‘CarryMinati’ is the biggest individual YouTuber, not only in India but also in the whole of Asia. He currently has about 38.4 million subscribers on his channel and a second channel called ‘CarryIsLive’ which has over 11.5 million subscribers. He is also a rapper, comedian, and gamer. Ajey is one of India’s most loved content creators and is an inspiration for many aspiring content creators as well.

Early Life

Ajey Nagar was born on 12th June 1999 in Faridabad, Haryana, a city near New Delhi. Ajey never had the knack for studying and struggled quite a lot. He was schooled at Delhi Public School, Faridabad. In his twelfth year, he chose the Commerce stream. However, he eventually decided to drop out of school and later completed his 12th by distance education. It was after this that he decided to quit education and invest his full time on YouTube. This is how his success story began.

Journey to becoming a YouTube sensation

Ajey had already started posting football tutorial videos on his YouTube channel, then called ‘Stealth Fearzz’. As an eight-year-old, he posted videos regularly and figured out all technical problems himself by looking them up on the internet. This shows us that he was dedicated to his work from a very young age. In 2014, he started a new channel called Addicted A1, which was based on gaming and he regularly posted PC gameplay videos accompanied by hilarious commentaries and sometimes mimicry of actors like Sunny Deol and Shah Rukh Khan.

Then in 2015, he renamed his channel to CarryDeol, where he started roasting, along with gaming. People loved his content a lot and he started gaining popularity. After some time, he renamed the channel to CarryMinati, inspired by the term ‘Illuminati’. He also roasted BB Ki Vines, aka, Bhuvan Bam, and his video went viral. Ajey gradually passed all similar content creators in terms of subscriber count like BB Ki Vines, Ashish Chanchlani, Amit Bhadana, and so on. He was featured in Times Ten Next-Generation Leaders in 2019 and Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia in 2020.

Ongoing Plans

CarryMinati runs a second channel called ‘CarryIsLive’ where he plays, and streams various games live with his funny and engaging commentary that people love. His fans also love him for his craziness. Once, he raged so much while playing a game that he broke his entire PC. Carry is continuing to make his comedy videos, especially roasts as well. Ajey has also met Hollywood star Tom Cruise and is the only Indian to ever meet him.

CarryMinati is also making multiple appearances in many web shows. He is also releasing songs now and then with his brother Yash aka Wily Frenzy. He has also made his Bollywood Debut in a movie starring Ajay Devgan and Amitabh Bachchan called ‘Runway 34’. However, that’s not all; he released a diss track on world-famous YouTuber, PewDiePie, which became massively popular. His song ‘Vardaan,’ which demonstrates Ajey’s journey to becoming CarryMinati, is quite beautiful.

Hurdles on the way – dealing with controversies

CarryMinati made a video roasting TikTokers and posted it with the title “YouTube vs TikTok The End’. This video created one of the biggest internet controversies ever. The video burst out onto the scene and spread massively. It gained more than 76 million views in 6 days. This video made CarryMinat’s subscriber count go from 11 million to over 20 million in a matter of days.

However, with this came the controversy. Carry roasted TikToker, Amir Siddiqui, with comments carrying transphobic and homophobic slurs. This violated the community guidelines, resulting YouTube in taking down the video. By that time, the video had around 80 million views.

CarryMinati and his team contacted YouTube and tried a lot to have the video back but they failed. However, Carry uploaded a video the next day clarifying his stance. He also cleared his stance regarding the LGBTQ community, claiming he supports them. Various other YouTubers like Bhuvan Bam, Ashish Chanchlani, and all fans showed huge support for Carry but the video never came back. Out of protest millions of people rated the TikTok app on Play Store with 1 star and the rating of the app dropped to 1.2 stars from 4.6 temporarily.

This incident hurt CarryMinati but he came back stronger. He released a track called ‘Yalgaar’ with Wily Frenzy which gained over 33 million views in the first 24 hours. It trended at #1 globally on YouTube and it was a huge statement from CarryMinati to everyone who criticized him.

Future Plans

Ajey knows that roasting has a lot of limitations and roasting will become more and more difficult in the future because of YouTube’s strict community guidelines. He has already diversified his content and career a lot. CarryMinati will keep looking for acting opportunities in web series and movies. He has already started on it. Gaming has also been with him since the beginning and he will continue playing in his hilarious style. Comedy is deep within him and he can make great content with comedy, as we all know.

Summing Up

Overall, Ajey sets the perfect example that even if you are an introvert or studying is not your thing, you can still be successful. He is a multi-talented young boy who has a lot of time left to do numerous great things. He is still growing and will keep growing because he knows how to fight back and not give up. We wish him a lot of success.
